I've set a password on my administrator account but tried excuting a $sudo su - to get to the root but it just says sorry on the return. Is there another way around this?

Are you logged in as the Admin account?

if so, then when sudo prompts for a password, enter the Admin account password which you are logged in as.

You will not see any echo while typing, just enter the current account's password and then the return key.

If you are not currently logged in as the Admin account, you will want to do that first, or there other other gynastics you get go through to become admin first before using sudo, but it is much easier to just logged in as Admin in the first place.
