Q: I seem to be stuck on step 1 of preparing update, it has been hours and only about 30% . This can't be right

I am trying to install new software update on my Apple TV and it hasn't moved past 30% in hours and can't seem to be able to get out of update and start over. Help please

Apple TV, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)

Someone else said to try and reboot by holding down the menu and play button on the remote for several seconds and then try again. It worked for several people and seems to be working for me now.
