I have an AppleTV, newest generation, and it works just fine on my TV at college, but when I brought it home to use with my Grandma's 42-inch Sanyo, the television acts as if the AppleTV is not connected. Any suggestions?

make sure you select the hdmi inpurt source as active input source my tv have 5 hdmi ports
so plugging in a device which play over hdmi does not auto select that input source as active
I have to manually select in my case hdmi2
the reason behind this is that if the tv just selected the input which was recieving a signal then mine would jump between appletv and SAT box and back and fourth
I had a problem with a very slow connection. After talking to Apple TV support they suggested moving the Apple TV box (or connecting an ethernet cable). My Apple TV was on top of my Sky box. I moved the Apple TV less than half a metre and now downloads are instant. The Sky box was clearly interfering with the WiFi signal.
I just select the source on the TV, right? For instance, this TV has 3 HDMI ports, I plugged into HDMI 2. When I switch the input to HDMI 2, it says that nothing is connected, even though my Apple TV is plugged in.
See, I would welcome problems with a slow connection. I can't even get the Apple TV to appear onscreen.
