mac software 10.6

i would like to upgrade to the new mountain lion software but i am stuck with the current 10.5.8 and don't know if i have to download other stages of the OX software to getto mountain lion???

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

You need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD and download the Mac OS X 10.6.8 combo updater.
