Problems updating to OS X 10.6.8

Hi there,

I'm trying to update so that I can move forward to Lion but I keep getting an installation error. I've tried to update through Software Update and I've also downloaded the 10.6.8 Combo Update manually from the Apple website. I've already tried repairing disk permissions as per some suggestions I've found. Here is the report from Console:

I've redownloaded the updates multiple times to no avail. I'm simply at a loss at this point. Any help would be definitely appreciated.

Your downloads are being mangled, so it won't install. See this thread for steps to take.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, still no luck. I'm still getting the same error.

Here's a new update:

Just stumbled upon this. I realized I get the same error while trying to install ANY software (via Installer.app). Also can't install anything from the App Store. To re-summarize: can't install update, can't install software (.mpkg files), and can't install apps. I'm wondering if all of this is related.
