how can a person know which model iPhone(iPhone5 or iPhone4Gs or iPhone 4G or ...........) or iPad(iPad1 or iPad2 or iPad3) he/she is using? is there any code to ensure about it??

like Nokia and some other phone we can use some sort of code, that determine what kind of mobile that is. yeah i am user of iPad3, iPad mini, iPhone 4Gs.

tricks n tips type. like the below:
Launch the Phone app
Dial *3001#12345#*
Then tap on the Call button, which will launch the Field Test app (or enter the field test mode). You’ll also notice that the signal strength indicator has switched to a number from the traditional signal bar.
Now hold the Power button until the red slider (slide to power off button) appears.
Release the Power button and press the Home button until the Field Test app quits
Why would you want to type in some numbers when the user interface of the device itself provides you with the information you need?
What point is there to this?
The code you give is the access to the "Field Test". In Nokia you get the phone model and imei, if I remember well.
In iPhone you go to Settings/General/About and you get all the iPhone data, as said above by every participant.
There is no such "nokia" code for the iPhone.
The one you gave, gives you the Field Test info (numbers instead of bars for the field strength). I do not know other codes for the iPhone.

I think you all misunderstood the OP's question. In Settings>General>About>Model it only lists a Model #, at least on my iPhone 4.

Google your Model #, such as MC319LL/A. The Model # will tell you if you have a iPhone 4, 4S or whatever other idevice you have.
In Settings/General/About there are all data about the phone: model serial number, imei, and a lot more.
