Just found a solution to this problem via HP technical support by changing my Officejet 6700's dynamic IP address to a static IP address:

After making these changes and rebooting my printer immediately started working again.

People should be setting their IP printers to static anyway. That's the right way to set up IP printing. Leaving it on DHCP depends too much upon other factors lining up properly in order to make things work. Too many variables left out in the wing. Set your IP to static and outside of your DHCP range and you won't ever have any issues finding the printer and printing to it forever... well, as long as it physically functions anyway. lol
