I was working with moving backgrounds in .AVI format. I updated 10.8.3 and now none of my .avi files will play.
I get this pop-up window:

Flip4Mac
DivX
Perian
Nothing has helped.

Did you tried whether they can be opened using VLC?
I used VLC and they opened there but because QT ties into other apps like Toast and iDVD THOSE apps no longer work either. I am just sick about this. Even if you convert the avi to another format they still won't play.
AVS Media Player solves the issue. just download the app for free.
You are aware that this is an APPLE forum and not a PC forum and that there is no download for the AVS Media Player for Mac OSX and Linex???
