Bloomberg video no longer plays since last system or Java update - I do not recall which.

In last 45 days or so, Bloomberg video no longer plays.

This is the result of a system or Java update - I do not recall which. I've tried all the tips that Bloomberg has suggested to no avail... and they are no longer assisting me! Please help, friends. I've been a Macintosh user since 1986 (really!), please help, friends.

Below is that they have said to me about this issue:

Hello:
-Please confirm that JavaScript is enabled in your web browser.
-We recommend you check the Flash Player settings on your computer. You can use
the following link to check the "Global Storage Settings" tab:

Make sure to check the box that said "Allow third-party Flash content to store

HELP, please! I've done all that you've suggested, and I'm still unable to view
Bloomberg videos. Can you help me? I 'think' it started with a recent Java
update on MAC OS, but I'm not totally sure.

You are talking about Java. Bloomberg are (correctly) talking about Flash Player.

Two bugs, one affecting Apple's Mac platform and another attacking Microsoft's Windows, exploit certain Flash player vulnerabilities to install malware onto users' systems, reports ArsTechnica. While users of other operating systems like Linux have yet to report attacks, Adobe's advisory notes the exploit affects all platforms.

Designated as CVE-2013-0634, the first vulnerability targets the Safari and Firefox Web browsers running on OS X, and is also being used as a trojan to deploy Microsoft Word documents containing malware. For Mac users, the flaw affects Adobe Flash Player version 11.5.502.146 or earlier.

On March 1 Apple again blocked Flash Player for Lion and Mountain Lion:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5660

The Adobe Flash patch can be found on Adobe’s website, and users can visit this page to check if their software is the most curent version.

You should uninstall any previous version first, and repair permissions after installing the new version.

assuming that Flash works elsewhere - does that vid play in a new or Guest user account ?

check System Preferences - Flash Player - Storage tab to see that 'allow sites to save information..." is on.

In the Advanced tab - click 'delete all'

first though,

Do you use Glimmerblocker, or any other advert/content/security blocking/filtering software ?

The screenshot shows an ad not displaying, right above 'connect with bloomberg tv', so something's doing that, and perhaps blocking the video too, a Safari extension is likley, if it worked in another account.

Safari-Preferences-Extensions is set to OFF ?

Yes, I use Sophos. But, recall that with another browser (Chrome), video plays fine. So the issue is not with Sophos per se.

I just turned Safari-Preferences-Extensions to OFF. Video will sill not play.

Regarding;"

I did this, but, I an unable to delete all the Site Data; I get an error box: "Flash Player was unable to delete all local storage. The files may be locked by another program. Close all browsers or restart your computer, and try again."

I get this error even with all the browsers are closed.

I think this points to our bug: Only in my Mac OS user profile and only in Safari there seems to be some Flash Player file which is either 'open' or 'locked' to deleting.

Where could that pesky file be????

I had the same issue as 4awizard2. Using Safari I could watch flash videos on any other website except for Bloomberg. Furthermore, I could watch Bloomberg videos with Firefox.

However, after turning off all Safari extensions I could also watch Bloomberg videos again. After further investigations I realised that the extensions "Google Disconnect" and "Facebook Disconnect" were causing the problem.

I also once had problems with my flash player in general and only after deleting all Flash Player application files (I had a non-standard installation where installation files where in subdirectories of the Applicaiton folder) and then newly installing the Flash Player I was able to watch flash movies again.

Hope it helps.

Bloomberg video no longer plays since last system or Java update - I do not recall which.
