It's been happening very frequently and even if I close the window browser and open a new one the display glitches. It's happened on shopping websites e.g. amazon, nordstrom and on google, youtube and netflix. I called apple support and they had me restart my computer by pressing the command and p/q buttons. It didn't help.

Can you please take a screen shot of the glitch so we can see what you're talking about?
I've taken video of what happens so that I can bring it into the apple store. However, I've read other thread discussions and resetted safari and repaired permissions. So far the glitching has only occurred during google chat. When it happens the words that I typed won't show up until after I pressed enter or the words would flicker.
It would be useful to know what versions of OS X and Safari you are running.
I am using OS X version 10.8.2 and Safari 6.0.2
