How do you transfer audio from cassettes to imac?

    You need an A/D converter (Analog to Digital) and software capture the incoming stream.

     

    The Mac has an A/D converter built in (not all that great) but does work using the microphone input.

     

    You'll need a RCA stereo to 1/8" stereo cable to connect the cassett player to the computer.

     

    For software, Quicktime Pro 7 works. There are also a number of specialized audio editing software programs (Audacity, Logic, Soundtrack Pro, Adobe Audition, etc) that will give you much greater control over the final output.
