Unsupported file format?
Using an app, XxtraView, I created files that QT refused to open despite it saying it should. Any idea as to what I did wrong?

Never heard of it. In the case of Third Party App usage, you are best to contact the Developers of the software and try to find the answer (if there is one) from them.
