Hyperlinking mp3 folder

Lots of info on pdf hyperlinking, but none on this: how could you hyperlink a folder of 19 mp3's in iWeb to be downloaded by smartphones. Tried a zip, but iPad's won't download a zip, and assume it's the same for most other wireless devises. This would be for the general public, and need to be simple for everyone.

Thanks for any help,

Jace

Safari on an iPad can download zip files, Chrome on an iPad cannot.

Why not simply make links to the mp3 files and let the visitor decide what to do.

Here are some alternatives :

BTW, Safari/Chrome are not the only apps on iPad for displaying webpages. I currently use 4 other apps.

Create a podcast page with all your tunes.

Your visitor can then subscribe to it.

Or create a feed yourself.

Searched for it :

Found this one :

When you click the provided link :

Safari on iPad opens the podcast app and asks if you want to subscribe. Say yes, and you can then download the files.

Chrome on iPad cannot handle the .xml file.

Created podcast for one of the 19 tracks at Podomatic.com to check it out. Won't work for my purpose. Need it only for smartphones, and after googling, found out most of these phones don't use a rss feed. I need it to be useable for all smartphones.

Checked out sites that offer the download service I want, but I want my download of 19 tracks as an album to be free of charge. Open for any other suggestions.

The download can be free if you want it to be. Release the songs as an album through a digital distributor ...

CDBaby charges $49 to release an album which can contain any number of songs. This would be a one time cost to you.

You can then set your own price which can be zero if you really want to give your music away.

Checked that out when I started this project, but it wasn't what I was looking for. Don't want everyone seeing this availabe link/album; only those who I want.

Thought this would be easy, so to add more specifics to this: I wanted this album download to be available to ONLY those I wanted it to be. I was going to have a separate iWeb page with download info i.e. zip or whatever, whose link would not show on the website. I would give this "back slash" link to those who I wanted to have it, and periodically change the name of this "back slash" link to keep it from going "viral." I know, sounds mysterious.

It looks like the only way I can have available a zip download for the iPhone is by having everyone who wants my download purchase the $29.95 WinSip from Apple. Not doable.

I'm listening.

There seems to be a way to hack around the problem on smart phones but how many of your listeners would be prepared to do it?

An alternative would be to have a password protected folder with zips for those who can download them and links to the actual MP3 files so that smart phone users can, at least, play the tracks on their devices.

I use Ubidisk (free) to dowload files

(Isn't it great that you cannot display images in this forum when using an iPad)

And iunarchiver (free) to unzip

There are other free zip apps in the appstore.

Having just come back from my local Mac store, I have been convinced that I cannot get my stuff downloaded onto iPhones. For those interested, here's my business I needed this info for: http://hanacdguide.com/Road_to_Hana_CD_Guide_Home_Page.html

I have a narrated tour on CD, and the day of CD players in cars are numbered. I was looking for a way to have my 19 track narration be downloaded onto smartphones. And I wanted to control who could download these audio files after paying ME the money in person, and getting all the printed stuff that comes with it. This had to be really, really easy for my customers.

Guess I'll just limit myself to android users for now, hoping iPhones will open Zips in the not too distant future when no cars have CD players. Thanks for trying.
