Adobe Flash/Player Messages To Download

Running OSX 10.8.3 on a 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 and I keep receiving messages to download Adobe Flash since it's out of date. I continue to receive these messages despite the fact that I've downloaded numerous times to correct the errors. I often have this problem on CNN too and still cannot play their videos. Can someone pipe in an help a needy person out? LOL.
