Upgrading Mac Pro 1,1?

Will these products be compatible with my Mac Pro 1,1 2x3.0Ghz

Hard Drive - 1TB

RAM - 16gb

GPU- ATI Radeon HD 3870

SSD - 32gb

I am aware that I will need a bracket for the SSD because it is a 2.5 inch drive and the bay is a 3.5 inch.

Can I also have a link or a tutorial to installing 10.7.5 on the SSD for a faster boot time? I am open for suggestions. My highest amount I'll pay is 300$.

So in a nutshell, I'm asking if the parts listed above are compatible with a Mac Pro 1,1 and also a link/tutorial for using the SSD for a faster boot time and how to make it able to use the 1TB drive. I want to install 10.7.5 because, well, if your on this site, it's self-explanitory.

Thanks In Advance!

1. Not really. Use a WD Black, but not a Green drive.

2. OK.

3. OK, but an ATI 5770 or 4870 would be better choices.

4. Get one that has more capacity. 120 GB SSDs aren't that expensive. You will need a special tray.

Upgrading to Snow Leopard

You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.

After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.

Upgrading to Lion

If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.

You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

As I stated earlier stay away from Green or Blue drives. WD Caviar or one of the other ones I suggested.

Not very likely, but anything is possible. Your original GPU selection will not nor will the 4870. I'm not too sure about the other cards, but the bus in the computer will not support PCIe 2.0 which is really needed to achieve the cards' performance capability.

Oh, and WD has their 10K VelociRaptor drives which are fast, reliable, and make nice boot drives or fast storage or scratch w/o the need for SSD brackets, and consistent 180MB/sec I/O. Great price on 250-500-1000GB ($98 to $214)

early green drives were an issue for some, they were more popular due to high prices after the Sept 2011 storms knocked out manufacturing where they are built. some people have no trouble, the green slower rpm are popular and found in many backup cases or for low heat and storage for home entertainment. WD Black 1TB costs about the same as SSD or WD 10K 250GB though.
