Windows 8 on mac mini

I'm a mac newbie but I want to install windows 8 on my mac mini. How well does windows run on a mac? Before I purchase a copy of windows 8, I just want to know if it's worth doing or am I better off buying a seperate PC just for windows usage?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Windows on a Mac works as on any other PC. Apart, the main advantage of Boot Camp is that it uses all the hardware of your Mac mini, getting the maximum performance. Then, after installing, just install the Boot Camp drivers (that you can download from Boot Camp Assistant or from the Apple website) to get all the hardware of the Mac mini detected.

Before doing anything, first check that your Mac mini is compatible with Windows 8 > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634 Also, update to OS X 10.8.3 first in order to get the Windows 8 Boot Camp drivers. Finally, you have in this file all the steps you need to install Windows on the computer > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf

It depends on what applications you want to use in Windows. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3321

Note that there is an Office version for PCs and another version for OS X. If you have got a license for 2 PCs, it doesn't mind that you have to install Office twice in different operating systems; it just means that you can install Office on two PCs, but if you don't need a second license, just don't use it

Actually, the newest version (Microsoft office 365) can be used on both a Mac and a PC, meaning it's the same disk for both operating systems. You no longer have to buy a seperate version. I want to get the university edition which allows two installs. I definitely want to install one on my Mac mini but I want to be wise about the other install because I may need it for a laptop. So If I installed it on the mini, could I use that same license for Windows on the mini or would I have to use the remaining license?

If you install it in Windows, you will be able to install it (I supposed that with the same product key) on OS X (on your Mac mini) or on a different Mac or PC. Note that, if you install Office 365 on OS X and Windows on the same Mac, it's detected as if you have installed Office on two computers, so you won't be able to install Office on another Mac or PC
