Every time I upgrade iTunes, it thinks I have not purchased iTunes Match. How to get my purchase back?

I have a mid 2011 mac mini 5,2 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 with OSX 10.8.2, and after upgrading iTunes to 11.0.2 I no longer seem to have iTunes match, which I paid for under the previous version of iTunes. I seem to have match available on my iPhone, but not my mac mini.

As if having to tell the new version where my library is stored after each update wasn't pain enough (yes, it can never find my iTunes library after each update, and I've never moved it....It does live on an external HD if that has something to do with it, maybe iTunes only remembers the file path on local discs?)

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.7.5), 5,2 16GB RAM, 2 x 750 GB HDD, i7

I tried that, when I select "turn on iTunes Match" fromt the menu, it brings up the screen to purchase iTunes Match. I am signed in, yet it does not recognize that I have purchased it before. As for the iTunes library, the drive is plugged in and mounted, but the upgrade never finds it. I may just have to keep it on the local disc in the mac mini itself from now on. I've sent an email to Apple support and am waiting to see their answer.
