Cannot enable Fast user switching menu
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
Try this in Terminal:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences MultipleSessionEnabled -bool YES
any change?
No luck. Still greyed out.
Thanks for help tho
What do you get from the following command?
defaults read /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences MultipleSessionEnabled
(should be "1")
Yes i do get a 1
Please reboot - it should work then.
I rebooted. Still nothing 😟
You do have multiple accounts, right? Otherwise it will be greyed out, because there are no users to switch to.
Yes of course. 2 admins and a guest
What else is messed up, besides hostnames and fast user switching?
May be time for a fresh install...
Well, everytime i log in or restart i have to type in 3 codes to terminal to change my name from "Localhost" to "Harrison". My system preferences doesnt have anything, and the only way i can go to stuff is from "view" (See my other question). But i dont think a fresh install would benifit me that great. I have so much data on here, and data on my Parallels.
I would strongly suggest to backup and reinstall, sorry.
Well, that kinda *****. But thanks for your help
