iMovie 8.0.6 keeps crashing when I try to share my movie to iTunes or export to desktop

iMovie keeps crashing (and thus preventing me from sharing my project to iTunes, or export it to the Desktop). Whenever I try to share my newly completed project iMovie will generate the whole project and then crash at the very end (not exporting my movie). Could I need to upgrade my versions, or will that make things worse? I've tried restarting my computer and tried again to share it several times but it keeps crashing at the end of the cycle...
