This Device Is Already Associated With an Apple ID

I was having trouble logging into FaceTime and connecting to wifi. So I wiped my iPad mini and reset to factory settings.

I was able to get my iPad mini working after wiping it and rebuilding it manually as a new device.

Now, I have a new problem - my apple id.

I can't use iTunes match.

I can't download books from iBooks.

The error I'm getting is as follows:

"This Device Is Already Associated With an Apple ID."

"You can download past purchases on this device with just one Apple ID every 90 days. This device can be used with another Apple ID in 34 days."

What is this?

I paid for this content and the iTunes Match service and now I can't use it? ***?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Because you've done one of these things on an account : View and remove your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support

Your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, or Android phone automatically associate with your Apple ID and iTunes when you:

Do you have a question about the message ? The message means what it says, the device is already associated to an account and you can't use auto-downloads (nor iTunes match or iCloud Music, nor redownload a different account's purchases) on a different account until the 90 days have completed : View and remove your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support

No nothing of that happened , I downloaded the beta of ios 11 and then restored my phone for a fresh ios 11 install so when I put my apply ID and then tried to go and download my music it said that my phone was associated to another ID .

I only have 2 apple ID one if for my iphone 4 one is for my iphone 6 but I did not use my other phones ID so im guessing its a bug with the beta ios so I reverted to ios 10 but still the same .

Downgrading from a beta won't remove an association. If you are getting a message that the phone (or iPad as this is the Using iPad forum) is associated to an account you could try logging into the account that it's associated to and see if you can remove it, try contacting iTunes Support and see if there is anything that they can / will do, or wait until iOS 11 is released and see if that fixes it - unless you are a developer you shouldn't be using beta software, and not on a critical device.

The membership or music has nothing to do with any device. It is permanently tied to whichever AppleID you used to purchase the content or subscription. Purchases are forever tied to the AppleID used when purchasing and have nothing to do with the device’s you own and use over your lifetime.

So if you purchased the music with the other AppleID, then that is the one you must sign in to the iTunes Store with to keep those purchases, on any device you own or use.

The beta is public, but by definition it's beta and isn't ready for public release, and it shouldn't be installed on a primary device, and only developers should really be installing it - you install it at your own risk, knowing that it will have bugs, and knowing that you may end up with issues and/or an unusable device

how exactly do you propose that I find which ID is associated to this phone.

It will be an account that has been used on the device and done one of the specified things on it. But it might also be due to a bug in iOS 11 . If it doesn't show on the account(s) that you've used on it try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can / will do anything - which they might not be able to do.

Im having this problem. It seems simple to login to my old id and remove my iphone from that account but when i try to login it wants to send a verification code to a very old phone number so I have to go though a lengthy verification process. Apple support has been absolutely no help all I want is to enable music downloads on my current account so i either wait the whole 19 days or hope the verification completes so i can get in the account.

I think this is what is going on. You can only restore from an iCloud backup so many times before you are locked out of your ID for 90 days - if you used another Apple ID on the device previously in order to download past purchases without paying for them again.

Apparently some users have had success in contacting iTunes Store support when they run into this issue.
