Cannot transfer selected photos to iPAD

I am trying to transfer just 70 photos from an iPhoto album on my 2012 MacBookPro to my iPAD v2 via iTunes v10.8.3. I have tried all the usual things with no success. I have been to the forum for answers but still nothing I have tried from there has worked. Has anyone had this issue and did they solve it?
