Battery Health

This is my first Mac, and is about a year in a half old, I have noticed severely decreased battery lifespan and am curious if anyone can give me some advice on if I should break down and buy a replacement. I have attempted to search around and find out what some of this means, but I haven't had much luck. Conflicting answers regarding the Charge Remaining.. That is such a low number, it has me worried. :\

"Charge Remaining" refers to the energy that your battery has got now. If the number is low, it indicates that your battery is low, so you have to connect the computer to a power source.

The battery condition appears as normal, so you shouldn't be worried. Anyway, download coconutBattery and tell me what appears in "Battery capacity" (the current capacity and the design capacity). If there's a big difference between them, you may consider the option to take the computer to an Apple Store or reseller to get your battery replaced

If your MBP is 18 months old, you have used your battery a lot. Based on your charge remaining, you have run your battery down to full discharge. That is not good and shortens the useful life of the battery. As general rule, I keep my MBP attached to the power adapter as much as possible and I will let the battery discharge about once per month to the 40 % level. Now this may not be possible for some people, but as soon as you get the battery level warning, terminate your session and plug the power adapter in and recharge the battery..

Here are a couple Apple support articles that may give you some insights for proper battery use.
