Macbook File Sharing

basically I'm trying to get music dropped onto my macbook air from my Brothers Mac desktop. I have got the firewall letting through file share, all the file sharing settings are set to allow it. I can connect to his computer to drop files into his computer but he cannot connect to my laptop. He doesn't AirDrop which would have been much easier. Suggestions?
