my keynote presentation is frozen. How can I keep changes and close it?

My keynote presentation is frozen. How can I keep changes? Force quit will delete changes so is there another way to unfreeze it?

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

depending when the freeze happened, Keynote will have autosaved versions of the file

Force Quit then in Keynote use: File > Revert to Saved

Just a suggestion, turn on time machine and use a pertable hard drive. I have a presentation that I have a ton of time in on the same machine and OS that you do and would die if I lost it. I purchase 2 one TB Passsports from Apple and always have at least one of them connected when I am working on the presentation.
