AH HA!  Back when we went through the Co-Processor issue, i thought to myself about this huge Nvidia update that Windows made me do, and i thought it ironic that we had to install that old driver.  However, your MBP must be depending on that old driver right now, where as mine works with brightness, and all that good stuff and has this Nvidia enviorment always running in the system tray.  Im picking my little one up from preschool, but ill have a step by step for you in about an hour, apologies, but i dont have the MBP with me, only the iphone lol

AWESOME!  thats exactly what i was talking about, pretty darn sure this will fix your issue.  Please report back for those following our quest, as im sure you will.

btw when thats all done, verify the tray thing, and see if your version is 314.07  thanks in advance

I did the update and still no icon in the system try. The brightness buttons work but still do not seem to change the brightness and if I have the BC control panel open the keys do move the slider. The Action Center flag is still up so I am reinstalling the NViDIA drivers again.

Did you do a restart after the update?

  • projectRelentless Level 1 Level 1

Also, after your done and restart if it's not in the tray, goto search, nvidia and start it up manually, you very Well mayhave to do that

I restarted.  Installing the NVIDIA SMU Driver and Ethernet driver.

  • projectRelentless Level 1 Level 1

Good good, the Ethernet driver rang a bell from when I did this windows advised update, just make sure each time it's done doing its thing that you restart, even if it doesn't ask you to

All 23 updates are installed.  No NVIDIA shoes up in search and still can't control brightness.   Weird.

Also my Maczbook when booted into Windows 8 will not wake from sleep.

Okay I found the NVIDIA "Networking" and "Control Panel".

ok im back.  go to file explorer, click on your windows drive (i.e c:bootcamp)  in the root should be an Nvidia folder, click through to nforce, 64 bit, and then run setup as an admin, see what happens there, also do the same for the drivers folder, youll see a setup to run in there.  See if that finally runs the Nvidia control panel for you, then when it is running, click on desktop in the n-control panel, and click show in system tray.  then we can mirror settings.  i definitely have the windows brightness control, with OSD working perfect, so we will get yu there.

as for the sleep issue, i noticed that, if i leave my macbook shut for an extended period and it sleeps, i have to hit the power button to get it back on, working on that as well.

Ok I did the NVIDIA setup.  Can't seem to find the drivers folder in NVIDIA though.
