Smartdisk Firelite 120GB Portable Firewire not recognized by my macbook

I have a Smartdisk Firelite 120GB Portable Firewire that I have been using for my macbook for several years. Now, It spins, is found in disk utility and uses the macbooks power but it does not show up on my desktop or finder.

I have used a different wire as I know 6 pin uses different pins for power and data transfer.

I have 65 gigs of information I NEED on this drive. Any reccomendations on getting it?

Does the drive function correctly if you connect it to another Mac? If so, use that to extract your data. If not, you will need to look into data recovery options such as DriveSavers. They do good work but they are not cheap.
