Iphone 4s won't charge and it's dead

I jailbroke my iphone 4s recently and it has been functioning normally until today. I unplugged my phone and it didn't charge all the way up to 100%. It died later today and it would on and off recognize my charger in both the wall charger and computer. Finally it started recognizing the charger and powered back on but it only charged to about 12% and then stopped charging again. I went to reset my phone and it died in the middle of the reset. now my iphone has been connected to my computer for about an hour and it still won't recognize my charger. I do not have Apple Care and I really need to know if there is anything I can do to save my phone. I want to at least restore it back to its original non-jailbroken state because it seems to be the cause of the problem.
