Hi, I started using my computer this morning and the volume has gone quiet. I haven't changed any settings but the volume is very quiet even when set to high! Has anyone else experienced this and resolved the problem?

In SystemPreferences/Sound Output Tab choose the output speakers you have on at the moment.
Thanks for this, I've given it a go but unfortunately it didn't do the trick so guess it's the battery!?
maybe an smc reset first.
What do you mean with the battery? Your post says Mac Pro, but your profile says iMac. How old is your mac Pro?
New to this site, appologies for confusion.
I've just found the answer...a very simple fix that I didn't even see. All on line volumes (youtube, videos etc) are ok but it was just itunes that was quiet. The slider on the itunes window was low....doh!
