iPod Classic non-responsive

All I'm seeing on my iPod Classic is a BIG RED CIRCLE WITH AN X in it and url for Ipod support page online. (Which didn't help at all.) Resetting iPod does nothing. Suggestions?

iPod classic, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
