The iMac can only be used as a monitor for Macs and some PCs. That's because you can only use it as a monitor if you connect it to another computer or device with a Thunderbolt port or Mini DisplayPort, and the PlayStation 3 hasn't got any of them

http://ps3.emulatorx.info/download.html

just get the ps3 emulator from there and google/youtube out how you have to install it correctly, then you dont need to spend like $300,- for a new ps3 or whatever it will cost in your country, and i dont care either. keep in your mind that it will only run the game itself and not the ps3 OS, but you have your own webbrowser so you will not need that, practicly. only thing is, you need to get your games downloaded from the internet, and you need to hook up your ps3 controller with your mac, but there are plenty of tutorials for that and i can help you with that if you think this is handfull...

now back to the thread, you wont need any aditional cabels, games, and most importantly, the entire ps3!

and...

if you are really planning to get a real ps3 working on it, that can be done in fact, you only have to buy yourself a this is superexpensive but you can even capture your games with this. and it will run your ps3 as a normal ps3 OS. just hit CMD+f2 (3th button on top left and bottom left).

here is a link how to get that converter:

thats how to hook up your ps3 with your macbook/powermac/imac or even hackintosh (if it has minidisplayport/thunderbolt {witch is the same probably})

so now you got 2 possibilities, buy a complete new ps3 with that extra convertercase or just download yourself an emulator that will make your mac function as a ps3

(there is a catch at this emulator, you might need to upgrade your RAM to make it run more smoothly)

hope this helped you out, GOOD LUCK WITH IT !!!
