No Airplay icon on computer

I can get my iPhone and iPad to play over Airplay, but want to watch a movie from my computer and can't get an Airplay icon to even show up. Could have happened when I updated to Windows 8?

Apple TV, Other OS, Windows 8

that would require airplay mirror support

only some macs support that an no windows computers

or you could buy airparrot

I think that Rudegar is missing the root issue. Yes airparrot will offer mirroring support but what does one do when the AIRPLAY icon is missing from iTunes?
