Playing an iPod Classic through AUX input

Want to play my iPod Classic over my iMac at work (don't want to connect it via USB b/c I don't want to mess with syncing).


So, I put an AUX audio cable into the AUX input on the back of my iMac. But, nothing came out of the speakers.


Went to System Preferences>Sound>Input and it's registering sound coming from the AUX device, but nothing is coming over the speakers.


Any help?

If you really want to play the iPod through the Mac, you'll need software to pass the audio through to the speakers; that's never been a native capability in Mac OS X. The free LineIn should do the trick for you:
