When I do software update of check for updates I receive this message;
The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)

I have Avast Antivirus installed
Tried the options listed on the right but still occurs
Maybe fully uninstall the Avast software using the developers uninstaller (you don't need it, but that's another discussion 😉) and then try.
I see that Kapersky - another AV - seemed to be the cause in one of the threads on the right. Also, I can't recall any glowing reports about Avast.
Just Checked my console messages when I hit updates and this is the error:
18/03/2013 14:40:57.181 com.avast.proxy[61]: SSL_read(): EOF
I will uninstall avast and keep you posted, Thanks Paul_31
Thanks for the advise Paul_31. So far so good the error does not appear anymore now Avast has been installed.
