Why aren't my speakers working on my iPhone 4s?

The external speakers on my iPhone 4s have stopped working for playing music, making sound for videos on youtube, etc. However, the alarm still sounds when I set it to, and it will ring when I revieve a phone call/text message. Does anyone know why this is? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

That didn't solve the problem. When I try to play my music through the iphone speakers, it doesn't work. There's no "volume" level bar that shows up to change the volume, and also the 2 side volume buttons don't do anything either. I can plug in headphones and get sound, but once I unplug the headphones, the volume bar disappears. Not sure why this is happening still.

I just restored it. Unfortunately, I'm still having the same problem. Like I said, the speakers will work when the phone is ringing, a text message comes in, or I play a "voice memo" that I've recorded on my iphone. Other than that, the speakers won't work for playing music, or listening to something on the internet (youtube, pandora, etc.). Any other ideas on what I could do to fix this? Thanks a lot!
