I just returned from a trip to Mexico. My imessages were syncing just fine between my ipad and iphone prior to the trip. Now they are not syncing and my bellsouth email account is controlling my messages. Please help me fix this problem.

It shows my Bellsouth address as the sender of the message. I'm not able to send regular text messages on either device.
If you are talking about SMS text messages as being "regular text messages" you cannot send them on an iPad and never could. Messages only works with iOS devices and Macs running Mt. Lion.
If your Bellsouth email address is your Apple ID email address, that's how it is supposed to work. If you were using your phone number on the iPad go to Setrings>Messages>Send and Receive at>You can be reached by iMessage at>Select your phone number and uncheck the email address.
Check you iPhone settings as well.

My bellsouth email account has taken control of my messaging. Imessages between Ipad and Iphone are not syncing now.
