icloud mail issue with server p10-imap.mail.me.com

Hello;

Lately over the past couple of days I have been experiencing an error on all my devices associated with my iCloud account. It seems to be related to server p10-imap.mail.me.com.

When I attempt to 'Get Mail' on my Mac I get the following error;

'The server returned the error: The connection to host p10-imap.mail.me.com on port 993 failed.'

When I attempt to 'Get Mail' on my iPhone/iPad, I get the generic 'Connection to the server failed.' error message.

I headed over to the icloud.com System Status page - All seems fine there.

I've removed my account from the Mac, restarted and attempted to set the account up again, I get the following error message;

'The iCloud IMAP server “p10-imap.mail.me.com” is not responding.'

I've removed my account from my iDevices, restarted and still get the 'Connection to the server failed.' error message.

I've turned off the firewall, and still running into trouble.

I've reset my Keychain access to defaults.

Everything I have done this far, is general troubleshooting steps to ensure that the errors generated are on the server side and not from an issue on my side.

Assuming that the issue is on Apple's end with their iCloud servers; Is there anything else i'm missing on my side that could cause connection issues? And how can I let someone at Apple know there is an issue.

Your help is greatly appreciated!

I also have this issue, however my iDevices work but my Mac Book has stopped working this last week. I've not changed any settings at all.

My password is to the correct level of complexity. However, I've seen these logs which look to be part of the issue. It shows connection is successful over port 993 using TLS, iSCREAM ready to rumble, then AUTHENTICATE PLAIN, but then AUTHENTICATION FAILURE.

Any other thoughts??

Bad form posting to your own posts!

However I've used the openssl command from Terminal to test some more.

openssl s_client -crlf -ssl3 -connect imap.mail.me.com:993

It connects fine:

---

* OK [CAPABILITY st11p00mm-iscream005 1O59 XAPPLEPUSHSERVICE IMAP4 IMAP4rev1 SAS

L-IR AUTH=ATOKEN AUTH=PLAIN] iSCREAM ready to rumble (1O59:24528) st11p00mm-iscream005

When I type my credentials it then kicks me out with the Authentication Failed error I posted above.

Re-testing on another imap server I get success, as I can login and type commands (e.g. A01 login myusername mypassword), i could go on to retrieve my Inbox.

Openssl is detailed here:

**stop press** I can now connect to imap.mail.me.com:993 using openssl, but Mail on my MacBook can't connect. Annoying!
