Q: My magic mouse wont work :(

My magic mouse is turned on and the batteries are new. but no matter what I do my mouse won't show up on my macbook pro's bluetooth or mouse settings someone help me with this...

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 17"

all i had to do was restart the Computer and all worked fine.
