my iphone4 turned itself off, but i managed to turn it back on again by holding the lock button and the home button down together, used it for 5 minutes and it turned itself off again and now will not turn back on.

Plug the device into a wall outlet for about 20 minutes then try a reset to see if it will power on.

I have done this and it will still not switch on, i have also checked for water damage, and there is none, nothing seems to be working, is it dead?
Take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.
