Safari pages get cut off

Hi I have just recived my new 17" Macbook. When i launch Safari I get a narrow web page and a lot of the sites i vist are cut off half way along. This dose not happen on my Imac. I hope you can help or point be in the direction of which topic i should be posting this under. Thanks for your help.
