Error pasting Numbers table into Mail (reverts to old formatting)

I was creating a draft email with Pages (on a macbook air with mountain lion fully updated) and inserted a table from Numbers. I needed to add a column but when I did it in pages it created the new line outside of the border. I went back to Numbers and added the line correctly and formated the border properly and pasted it over the first table in Pages.

No problem yet. However, when I pasted all into a new email, some how the speadsheet reverted. Thinking that it may have been an issue with the clipboard I restarted the computer, then I deleted the clipboard file, then I made a whole new numbers and pages sheet but still no joy. Whenever I create an email and try to paste either the whole message or just the table Mail reverts it somehow.

Totally at a loss...
