Hi everyone, I've got the same problem alas with my iPad 3 after this OS upgrade.

I've tried doing the reset of all settings but it didn't help. I get sound via headphones and the speaker works as I can adjust the ringer volume. apart from that no sounds! I checked the sound setting from the home screen and there is no bubble on the volume slide bar. This comes and goes when I plug and unplug the headphones. Very odd. Anyone got an idea of what I should try?

I did this but don't have a button on the slide bar. It appears if I plug in headphones and then works normally but goes as soon as I unplug. Help!

Headphone fix is not the fix for me. Still the same problem. When audio comes back on for a few seconds and it is crackles and drops out to nothing again. Headphones do work however. CS didn't help they weren't aware of any audio problems even after it is showing on the apple communities. They have their heads in the sand again and that is being nice.

I, too, have had this problem since updating to 6.1.3.  After reading tons of posts all over this board, I think I've fixed some of the issue but not all!  Here's what I did:

--double clicked the home button (bottom center) and swiped to the left TWICE.  When I did this there was no volume slide available.  I hit the button just to the right of the volume and "Dock Connector" was checked.  I checked "Apple TV" and "Mirroring" is off.

When I double clicked the home button after this, the volume slide appeared and it was muted.  I've since slid it to full volume and now am getting alerts, but still can't play my music through the speaker--it's going through my Apple TV

Double tap your home button and swipe left if the option for sound does not apper take your charger and adjust in the usb / charging point till it appears and remove the sound will come .i had the same problem .according to me it is a loose connection in the hardware inside the ipad

I'm having the same issues here with my Iphone 4. No sound yet even after a "master reset". My problem is the same than yours but starts with home buttom problems, and after the reset just the volum problem continues. Anyone can help me??

steve424's suggestion works on at least iPAD worked for me...the sound icon was knocked off after 6.1.3 update! Surprisingly everything was ok if one goes through the settings>sound! It's only at the double click home button way that it showed the sound icon knocked off...!

Is there a possibility that you blew your speaker? If you did take your iPad to an apple store and let them do what they need to do and they can replace it if need be.

    Hi Everyone

After trying losts of these types of suggestion I gave in and returned to my local Apple Store.  The genius bar staff tried many of the same things but in the end said the only solution was to replace the iPad. Apparently there must have been some damage to the connector so that the iPad still thought it was docked.  I now have a re-worked iPad thanks to my Apple Care policy.

I am the same here.  I have a 3GS (Don't shoot me, I have had it since new and it has been the best phone I have ever had), I updated it to 6.1.3 and since then there has been no sound coming from the external speaker (using headphones allows me to listen to music etc).  I decided it was worth trying to go to the Apple store here in Newcastle UK, they took my 3GS and opened it up, gave it's inside a clean and then proceeded to wipe the phone and start from scratch (I had already done this several times but they obviously wanted to be sure).

After an hour and a half in the store the staff member told me that he was 100% certain it was a software related issue (wich I already told him but I understand they have a process to follow), so Aplle admit to me that their software is what has caused issue with my otherwise brilliant 3GS.

However he then opens his mouth to tell me that although it is their software that has caused the issue, they would charge me £129 to replace my 3GS with a brand new one?!  Erm.....I don't think so, I don't know anybody who would still pay that price for a 3GS, but what really got to me was the fact they all admitted it was the fault of Apple, however they were unwilling to do anything to help me other than charge me for giving me a new phone.

I don't want a new phone, there was nothing wrong with the one I had until I updated to THEIR latest release of iOS.  Sort it out Apple, I hope your next iOS update addresses and fixes this issue.
