Mar 20, 2013 3:19 PM in response to Jredemerby Erica Munton,Rather than do a "hard reset" as some have suggested, do a "soft reset" by pressing your on/off button and Home button at the same time. Screen will go dark. When Apple logo pops up, release buttons. You should be able to connect after that. (I had same problem this morning. Soft reset fixed it).

Mar 21, 2013 5:06 AM in response to kennyUKby Senneberg,Hi Kenny. Finally got it to work!!! Did a soft reset, but did not restart. Left device for 30 mins. Restarted and disconnected wifi to clear history. Reconnected wifi, signed out of iTunes and back in again. Hey presto it worked. Don't ask me why or how - hugely frustrating I know. Good luck.

Mar 21, 2013 8:52 AM in response to Jredemerby Desertsky,I've had this problem for a few days now and have done everything to reset my iPhone 5. It have the newest update 6.1.3. I've signed in and out of iTunes. Hard/soft reset. Closed all open apps. I was able to update my apps by first by updating the apps on my Mac and then synching my iPhone. But still cannot connect to iTunes Store and update/download apps.
The other thing that worries me is at one point when trying to update my apps on my iPhone I received a message that stated "the certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server pretending to be "su.itunes.apple.com" which could put your confidential information at risk."

Mar 21, 2013 10:31 AM in response to Jredemerby sw201444,Sometimes on other wifi networks I can update an app or two. But that's rare to happen.

Mar 23, 2013 11:49 PM in response to Jredemerby iymo,It happened to me after updating to 6.1.3 but i fixed it by going to settings->Itunes & App Store -> Sign out
Then sign in again, it prompts that my account is not valid for US store (I am not in the US) and switches to my store. And that fixed it..

Mar 24, 2013 1:06 AM in response to Jredemerby kennyUK,As my problem was on both devices it must have been external
I contacted apple who told me to do everything that was suggested here
Told them I had done and it was strange that both ipad3 and iphone5 had the same problem at the same time
Anyway I got back from work on Friday and both devices were working again
This sounds like an apple problem

Apr 8, 2013 5:10 AM in response to Jredemerby Kate142,This happened to me as well -
Check your wifi is on.
Double click the home button
Find iTunes on the mini menu
Hold it in
Press the delete button in the comer
Do the same to the App Store
Go to settings, change the year like 20 years forward
Go onto any app other than the App Store or iTunes
After a bit, it should ask you for your password - put it in.
Go onto the home screen and click on iTunes
Hopefully this should work. Ps I have an iPod touch, not an iPhone, I don't know how different they are, but give it a try anyway.
It does sound like an external problem though so if this doesn't work, I would wait a couple of days before trying again. Or contact apple.
