Mobile Internet is not working when using another country's sim card.

Hello,

I've bought my iPhone 4 about six months ago in the UK and it works well here, but when I'm in Russia and using Russian sim card mobile internet is not working for some reason. The card works fine when installed in any other iPhone, but when any other sim is installed into my iPhone there's still no Internet. I think I have already tried every possible sollution - from switching it off and back on, restoring data settings and asking carrier support for help to fully restoring the iPhone itself, nothing works.

Are there any possible solutions to this?

Is the phone unlocked? Meaning, did you purchase it directly from an Apple store as unlocked? That is the only way to get an unlocked iPhone new in the UK. No other dealers in the UK sell unlocked phones.

Everything works fine apart from the Internet. I doubt there is a problem with a carrier, as I my sim worked well when it was installed into another iPhone. Also, my friend's sim from the same carrier which worked perfectly in his iPhone prevented me from using the Internet as well.

Well no, I was using MegaFon, which works perfetly for my friends who has iPhones (and one of them was bought in UK as well, though it is iPhone 5), so I doubt there is a problem with carrier. However, do you suggest trying another carrier?

Just because an iPhone is unlocked, doesn't mean it will automatically work with any carrier. You have to do some work to get data and messaging to work. This usually involves setting the correct data and messaging APN settings for that carrier. Contact the carrier or serach Google to find out what they should be.

I had to set the APN settings to use T-Mobile on my unlocked 4S.

OK, 2 possibilities:

Go to Settings/General/Reset - Reset Network Settings
If this doesn't fix it you may have incorrect APN settings. Try copying them from the phone that works with the SIM.

Yes, I've purchased it officially unlocked in the Apple Store in London.

Does voice work? If so, your carrier probably has not provisioned the account properly for iPhone mobile data. Many carriers have different settings for iPhones as opposed to other mobile devices.
