Hi All,
Good evening. I am having a 13" macbook Air and just installed Windows 7 on this. Unfortunately, i had a copy of Windows which is 32 bit. As expected, the Bootcamp support software doesnt seem to work on this. It would be great if someone could give me some tip on how to install Bootcamp support software for 32 Bit Windows 7.
Also, one more follow up question. How do I enable Wifi when am on windows?

You will need to get Win7 64-bit. Or run Windows in Parallels or other virtualization software.
Yeah, i installed SP1.
Am still struggling to get the audio up and running. Read a few posts on this but couldnt get it to work with any of the suggestions(like installing drivers from realtek website, updating drivers etc). Still browsing through to see if there are any solutions.
Did you run Windows Update in the Control Panel amd Update EVERYTHING- both Recommended and Important?
MS is pretty good at keeping the necessary drivers updated so definetly run Windows Update so you are sure you are running everything they have updated.
Yeah. I ran the window update in control panel and installed recommended/optional ones.
Do you see the sound icon on your taskbar?
If so did you click it and make sure it is on and not muted.
Also go to the Control Panel and then open the SOUND icon and see if the speakers are enabled.
Last thought is to go to Control Panel and then open DEVICE MANAGER
Find the Sound, video, and game controllers and open it.
The installed Sound Device will appear (Realtek?).
Right Click on the Device and select Update Driver Software.
When the Upgate Window opens select Browse My Computer For Driver Software.
When the Browse Window Opens direct it to the Directory containing the BootCamp Drivers.you downloaded and unzipped.
Hopefully that will do the trick.
BTW did Apple Software Update update the BootCamp Drivers to the latest versions?
If not newer Audio Drivers may be on the later versions of BootCamp 4.0 so you may need to download and run those.from http://support.apple.com/downloads/#macoscomponents

Bootcamp 4.0.4326 has Realtek Drivers on it so you might want to try this.

I can see the sound icon in the taskbar and dont see it being muted. Whenever audio is playing, i can see the green bar going up and down. Assuming it means something but unable to figure out.
I tried with my headphones, and that seems to work flawless.
In my device manager -> Sound, Video and game controllers, i can see 2 entries for "High Definition Audio Device". One installed correctly and the other one with an exclamation mark. I tried to update drivers for the one with exclamation mark and it always says the drivers are up to date. I tried updating the drivers through browsing my computer and locate my realtek drivers from 4.0.4, 4.1.4 and 5.0.5 bootcamp downloads. I also tried directly updating the drivers by installing from the above bootcamp downloads and didnt work either.
Apple software update didnt update my bootcamp. I still see version 4.0 when i open 'About Bootcamp'. I even tried running the setup from all the later versions of bootcamp and it always says that the version of bootcamp is not intended for this version of windows.
Apparently, am still stuck with no audio. 😟
Try this:
Right-click the speaker icon in the notification area
Choose "Playback devices"
The Sound control panel should appear, on the "Playback Devices" tab -
Right-click in the main area of the window where the devices would normally appear.
Check the "Show Disabled Devices" option and the other option "Show Disconnected Devices"
At this point your speakers should appear, but may still be disabled.
Right-click the speakers and choose Enable.
If sound is working click Set Default button..
I checked this and they were not disabled. 😐
This is a real stumper!
Get back to the "Playback devices" as you did earlier and right click the displayed speakers.
Select Properties and a new Window will open.
Go to the General Tab
You will see an area titled Controller Information with a Properties Button.
Click the Properties Button and see if you get a Message saying "This Device is working properly"
Do this for both Speaker icons shown.
Find which one is not working properly and try again to update the drivers right from there.
If that is a BUST which it may well be you'll have to go Back to Control Panel > Device Manager > Sound > Sound, Video and game controllers,
Go to the 2 entries for "High Definition Audio Device".
Right click the one with an exclamation mark.
and click UNINSTALL it will ask if you want to Uninstall the driver as well and select that as well.
See if you can play sounds now.
If no sound go back to Control Panel > Device Manager
Go to the Top Menu Bar and Select Action
Then select "Scan for Hardware changes" and see if the Audio Device is relocated.and installed.
If it finds the Audio Device, recheck under Sound, Video and game controllers in the Device Manager and see that they no longer have an exclamation point.
If you do get exclamation point again just UNINSTALL Both Audio Entries and then do the Scan for Hardware Changes from the Action Menu Bar item.
Hopefully one of these will work..
If all of the above fails the Bootcamp 4.0 version for your MacBook Air according to Apple is

System Requirements
There are Realtek Drivers in this package so maybe the missing link for the Audio and BootCamp Manager issues you have had might require a total Re-Install of the whole Bootcamp Package 4.0.4255 using setup.

Yeah, both the previous options you had suggested failed. :-(
I will pass the reinstall for now and may be try it after a week or two. Will definitely keep this thread posted.

I finally got mine fixed... If you download the Bootcamp version 4.0.4255, as mentioned above, but don't run the setup.. Go to the Audio Driver.. Bootcamp > Drivers > RealTek > and Run 'RealTekSetup.exe' and follow the menus and a restart. If all goes well, you should now how sound with Windows 7 32-bit on Apple Mac BootCamp.

This seems like a very helpful thread/post. Thank you. I didn't realize that different versions of Boot Camp exist depending on my Mac type. (I'm on a MacBook Air, mid-2012.) How did you get the above info? The info I see on this page:

Either way, I'm really bugged/disturbed by how the docs don't say what I'd expect. (I naively downloaded the latest Boot Camp 4 that was listed. And I had no idea what to do with the download, as I was expecting/hoping for a Boot Camp Assistant 4, not Windows files.)
Ok for all to know, YOU DO NOT NEED BOOT CAMP, use it if you wish but if it's giving you problems just install you good old win32 on a good old PC like i did years ago...4years ago. then pop the HHD out of your pc and slide it in your old MBP that you are trying to install bootcamp on.
wait 1 minutes on the white screen(apple as a stupid boot bios system that look for mac first then when it realizes that there is not a signle mac software to boot, the stupid mac bios will proceeed).
Win7 will start nicely, install all the drivers needed 5min automatically (there is some small driver you'll need to fecth yourself like webcam but that all depends on your laptop).
I have succesfully ran the same clone HHD (win7enterprise just in case try that one) on HP-Toshiba-MBP2006 for the past 4 years...actually many of my friends have run my clone under 5min install without ever failin

I got this working...!
Simple....
1. Installed Windows 8 32-bit Enterprise
2. Completed all the available Windows update
3. Downloaded the Boot Camp Support file for Windows: BootCamp4.0.4033.zip
4. Extracted the files and installed BootCamp using the BootCamp Windows installer file in BootCamp\Drivers\Apple. You will be prompted for compatibility check, just go ahead without looking for the help.
