Can I put 8Gb of RAM on my old Imac 2008?
I have an old Imac 2008 and I have now 6Gb RAM on it, but I'm wondering what will happen if I'd put 8GB RAM on it. Could you give any advice?
iMac (20-inch Early 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.8), 6Gb RAM

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Unfortunately, the Early 2008 iMac only supports 6 GB of memory. If you try installing 8 GB of memory, your Mac will only detect 6 GB of memory, but nothing should happen with your computer if you are using the correct memory type
This link should tell you the amount of RAM the Mac is guaranteed to work with and whether 8gb is an option:
If you attempt to install 8gB, it will most likely not boot.
6 GBs of RAM is the Max.RAM you can install.
Sorry.
