iTunes not updating, won't notice iPhone 5.

I just got a new iPhone 5, but my iTunes is still version 10.4.1.10, and it won't recognise it (while Windows will see it as a camera).

When running Apple Software Update, both Quicktime and iTunes' updates fail. When reinstalling iTunes off the Apple website, it fails (error code 2203, I believe, but I'm the administrator of the computer and have all rights, which seemed to be other people's problem). (Also, I'm afraid to uninstall and reinstall because I fear I'll never be able to get iTunes back again.) I've tried making it so only iTunes and Quicktime open when I restart my computer. I've tried stopping and restarting Apple Mobile Device. I've tried stopping and restarting all Apple applications on my computer (including Apple Mobile Device, Bonjour, iTunes, and Quicktime.)

I've spent days looking this up and trying to troubleshoot it from other peoples' discussions and questions, and nothing has worked.

How can I fix this and get iTunes 11 so it will at last notice my iPhone 5?

EDIT:

Also when trying to update within iTunes itself, it says it cannot connect to the iTunes server.

And I ran diagnostics on everything:

Network Connectivity: A secure link to the iTunes store failed. (Everything else was fine.)

Device Connectivity: Even when my iPhone is plugged in, the diagnostic says it does not detect it. (Everything else was fine.)

And I allowed iTunes past my firewall.
