I have my Gmail Synced up with OS's Mail. Is there a way to not have the mail that comes into Gmail's "Spam" folder automatically show up in my notifications? I have a small "freak-out" session when I see there are 60 unread emails only to realize they are all contained in that folder.
iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
Maybe this:
Mail, Preferences, General, New messages notifications, inbox only.
Another thing you could do is create a rule that marks all the mail in your Junk Mail folder as "read".

My GMAIL "Account's" Spam folder is the problem. This is not one of the options in the conditions drop-down box. You did give me the idea though to go see what I could do through gmail.com. I tried to see if I could change the rules of that folder to "Mark as Read" everything in it automatically, or even hide the fodler from IMAP, but it doesn't look like either of those options are available either.
You can hide the folder from IMAP.
Gmail>Settings>Labels: Show in IMAP, uncheck to hide the mailbox.

Csound1... I'm not sure if you saw my recent response to Zlig, but I tried that. I have those settings currently, restarted the programs already, and GMAIL's Spam folder/mailbox still shows up as an option, and all the emails it contains.
Did you do anything besides uncheck "Show in IMAP" to get that folder to disappear?
Restart your Mac after changing the settings.
Csound1... I just did that. It didn't work. Still there.
Then something odd is going on with your account or your Mail client, I can turn the labels on and off as I choose, off means that I don't see them, no ideas I'm afraid.
Remove the account and put it back is all I can suggest.
Maybe something in System Preferences, Notifications?
Csound1... It took time for the changes to take effect. Not simply restarting. This way, I only see the inbox from my Gmail account. Sweet!
