Audio Channels Configuration is unavailable for the selected clips

I have a stereo recording, two people speaking, each on a separate channel. Final Cut shows me it is a stereo recording, it tells me there are two channels but when I try to see the two channels separately I am unable to split them. I see the message Audio Channels Configuration is unavailable for the selected clips. I tried looking at the audio on it's own timeline as well by right clicking and selecting edit in timeline etc and I always get just one track. How can I get Final Cut to show me both tracks separately so I can edit?

Hi there, I'm having the same problem and switching to a different audio option won't work for me, because when I have the clip in the timeline and go to audio inspector, I get this message when I try to toggle to different audio options.

That's despite seeing a channel 1 and channel 2 on the right. I need to delete one of the channels and make the R audio go on both left and right sides.

Any advice?

Thanks

Kerry

I am trying to fix the audio, where is one channel has a lot of problems. I have used two mics - camera build and the lavalier. I would like to edit the channel where the problem persist and leave the good one intact. Therefore I would like to be able to edit channels separatly. In the inspector I am able to see two channels, but when I open clip in the timeline this option is unavailable.
