pan audio tracks in final cut pro 6

I have two audio wav files, one to pan left and one to pan right. How do I accomplish this in final cut pro 6?

Load into the Viewer, click the Audio tab, move the pan control.

Click on a track on the timeline to select it and go to the menu Modify > Audio > Pan Left, or > Pan Right.
