Looks like my mouse pad sunk in...
My mouse pad doesn't respond to touch as well as it should. When I click on something, it doesn't open until I click it harder and multiple times... What can be done?

Replace the trackpad.
Occasionally the battery which resides under the trackpad has been known to swell and interfere with it. Check for that phenomenon and if that is not that cause, take it to an Apple store genius bar for an evaluation.
Ciao.
I know sometimes replacing or fixing things that has to do with the motherboard cost a lot of money. Can the track pad be easily fixed you think?
Yes and no. It can be easily fixed but as to the cost only Apple knows that. But fixing anything on a Mac out of warranty is not cheap.

I suggest that you go to the iFixit.com website and look for trackpad parts for your MBP. You should be able to find what the parts cost, instructions for installing it and what tools are needed. This way if you take it to an Apple store genius bar, you will be in a position to make an informed decision based on what the Apple technicians have to say.
Ciao.
